    Few deeds have survived for this property. The Improvement Commissioners Order Book shows that: 1803 2 December - an order was given to find the value of premises on the North side of Stonehouse Lane between: East - the ground of Mr Alexander Maitland, West - a yard occupied by Mr William Stapleton, comprehending the Bell Public House, the Scalding Yard, and contiguous buildings. 28 December - it was stated that the proprietors of the Scalding Yard premises (now in 6 undivided shares) shall be offered £360. 1804 6 January - it was stated that Alexander Maitland esquire agreed to sell his share on the terms proposed, as did Mr Dingley Garratt and Mr John Jordan, who occupied the Bell. 3 February - it was agreed that John Jordan and Dingley Garratt be allowed £70 each for their respective shares of the Bell Public House and Scalding Yard premises, as the premises are occupied by the respective proprietors. 6 April - it was ordered that Mr John Jordan, Mr Dingley Garratt, Mr Edward Pincord and Miss Sarah Theed be paid for their respective shares of the Bell premises as soon as the conveyance can be completed, and that Alexander Maitland esquire be allowed interest upon his share. The Commissioners Bank Book shows that Dingley Garratt had been allowed small sums on account from 4 May 1804, but that the main payments were on 16 Aug 1804.
