  • Scope and Content
    Whereof the said chief tenement with 2 tenements adjoining on the North side and the other tenement on the South side, with gardens, curtilages, hedges, ditches and other appurtenances, lying in the parish of St John, Bedford, between the tenement of Ellen Muryell on South and that of the Abbess of Elstow on North, extending from the croft of Reginald Loryng on West to the King's highway on East; the croft with its hedges and ditches lies in the same parish on the West side of the King's highway leading from SeyntJohnstret to SeyntLenenards, and extends from the way called Bodynhoweye to the close of the Master and Brethren of the House of St Leonard; 3 acres lie together in the same parish next Pytecroft on one side and the land of the Abbess of Elstow on the other, abutting South with hedges and ditches to le Bodynhoweye and North at the other head; and the 2 acres lie together in the same furlong ("stadio") between the land of John Hunte on East and that of the Prior of Cauldwell on West. Which lands and tenements the grantor had of the grant and feoffment of John Feron. See also BorBE 2/61, where "Pytecroft" is referred to as "Petecroft".
