Scope and Content
The volumes numbered BorBB 12/9/1-3 and 5-6 came in 1996 wrapped in brown paper and with the following explanation:
‘This parcel contains the original Statutory Registers which were required to be kept in various housing statues to enable the Local Authority to claim subsidy in respect of the houses built between 1920 until the end of the war.
These registers were at one time damaged (considered lost in bombing/flooding/removal) and for the purpose of claiming subsidy subsequent to the war the Registers were completely re-written from reference to Committee Minutes and other records. The re-written registers have been inspected by the Ministry Audit. A few years ago the original records came to light and of course the originals should be retained.
Also included are some 1946 Act Registers which were re-written; some subsidy Qualification Certificates relating to pre-war houses, and some 1956 Act Displacement Certificates. 16-4-74’
