Letter from Swaffield and Son re. Education Committee decision to erect a secondary school at Flitwick ‘…delayed taking action as they rather anticipated that possibly at Miss Brooks’s death some of the land near the station would come in the market…if the trustees would be prepared to give the County Council an undertaking to favourably consider the matter as and when the question was settled, they would be prepared to wait for a couple of months, otherwise they might have to consider compulsory powers…’
