  • Scope and Content
‘…I asked her if she wished to make any other disposition regarding the bequest to the late Miss Louisa Bassett but she says her “death makes no difference to my will” – so that’s that! And I think she is now quite satisfied, regarding the Furniture &c in the House and Col. Lyall’s title thereto for his lifetime. Mr Swaffield writes me that he has succeeded in selling further land – a corner plot to ‘Alfred Daniels’ for £150 so it looks as if things are moving in the right direction in Flitwick & the remaining plots should find a market before long.’ 27 Jan 1933 Note signed by Miss Brooks and dated 11 Jan 1933 declaring that ‘owing to the death of my cousin Mrs Frances Davis in Alaska Nover 1932 – I now bequeath the sum of £300 to her younger son Cedric Davis.’ Note in pencil ‘I don’t know C Davis address only his mother’s … he is a sailor & may be any where!’
