    i) Samuel Marsom of Luton, linen draper ii) George Read of Langley in the parish of Hitchin, Herts. husbandman, eldest son of George Read of Luton and wife Mary (both deceased); William Read of Gravely, Herts, tailor; Thomas Read of Luton, labourer; Thomas Crawley of Langley, labourer, and Mary his wife; John Wells of Kimpton, Herts. bricklayer and wife Elizabeth Giles Hedge of Enfield, Middx., labourer and wife Sarah - William and Thomas Read being sons, and Mary, Elizabeth and Sarah daughters of said George Read the elder and Mary his wife iii) William Lawford of Luton, carpenter and John Chalkley of Luton brickmaker Reciting purported mortgage of 15 July 1742 by Mary Read of Luton, widow of George Read, to 1) under a consideration £40 for a term of 1000 years, for: - four cottages in Church Street, Luton, bounded on the one side by a messuage occupied by Thomas Dorington and on the other side by the cottage of James Freeman then occupied by Richard Prichard and ground of Henry Harris junior on the other side Premises then occupied by Mary Read, Aaron Punter, Joseph Collins, and John Colley Whereas the said mortgage has not been paid, Mary Read married Edward Webster, she has since died, and th reversion has passed to ii) by a settlement made before her marriage to Webster. William Lawford has purchased said cottages from ii) by release of even date between Lawford and ii) with Thomas Marsom of Luton Ironmonger, and Nathan Marsom of Luton, tallow chandler (trustees of Mary Read). Sale for £65, of which £40 has now been paid to i) NOW For money paid in full by William Lawford, i) and ii) assign interest in premises to John Chalkley in trust for Lawford Witnesses: Thomas Goodyear and Joshua Mead Signatures: all parties10 October 1734 Note: Although this deed relates to property in Church Street where the Rotheram Charity premises were situated, it does not appear to refer to the charity land
