- Scope and ContentI have perused your journal with great interest and return it with thanks. Mentions books by Burgh and Digby. "You will have seen a distinct avowal in the Record of that curious paper by Thomas. He always acts on his own judgement. What a fine confusion it would make if every clergyman were to make a set of rules for his church. He is perpetually keeping up a system of agitation. Pierson is still in Jail, and when he gets out is not likely to be employed again by Thomas ..." The dissenters are on the alert. A violent meeting took place at Huntingdon to petition to be freed from the church as an Establishment and from other grievances. Mr Hemming invited us to join in one at Kimbolton on Wednesday last, but I declined the honour. In fact I do not feel any so great grievances. Our great grievance is to feel ourselves such unprofitable servants, and I fear Parliament would help but little to cure this...
