Scope and Content
Note 'strike' against sending children to this school on its first opening; see EBV 23.
During 1939-1945 number on roll is given for the various schools that were evacuated to Silver Jubilee, initially the London County Council schools used the school premises in the afternoon while Silver Jubilee used them in the mornings but later the schools were integrated. By 1940 the roll included children from Bedford, LCC, W Greem. E Sussex, Eastbourne and Hastings [note only numbers are given not children's names]. The times and durations of air raid warnings are given.
On the 10th June 1942 Queen Marie of Yugoslavia visited the school and a description of her visit is given on pages 88-89.
On the 8th December 1942 55 boys attended a BBC concert at the Bedford Corn Exchange.
On the 10th December 1942 'a short ceremony was held in the school hall in connexion with the recent Yugoslav competition. His worship the mayour (Ald. Rickard) and members of the Yugoslav Government attended to present prizes and certificates.'
