  • Scope and Content
From: Robert How, Luton; To: Thomas Sworder "re Trustees of the late Ths Bigg & London & County Bank Shortly after I received the enclosed letters from you I saw Mr.Bigg and Mr.Thos Sworder and was about to write you respecting the plot of Land since Kiln Lane Luton but seeing it advertised for Sale I thought it would be as well to leave it and see what it made. I saw Mr.Bigg last night and he informed me he had written you again requesting you consent for him to take £40. I have been this morning and looked over the plot and enclosed I forward plan of property and Bill of Sale. I estimate the plot of land at least £60 and looking at it in connection with the other property Lot 1 I should think those who purchase that Lot will give considerable [sic] more for lot 2 than I estimate as it will be of great advantage to that property. re Land Stopsley Common Mr.Thos.Sworder called respecting the value of the above property and requested me to send the same to you. Some time since I made an offer to Mr.Sowerby of the land in Stopsley common and asked him about £70 per acre but he refused to give any such price and I should think it would not make any such money in the open market at a forced sale somewhere between £50 & £60 per acre would be more like its value. Crystal Palace I have looked over the Crystal Palace House premises Cottages and about 2 ½ acres of land and should think £800 a good price for the whole. re Globe Dunstable I expect on Monday next to be able to let the above House on a repairing Lease for 7 years at a rental of £18 or £20 per annum".
