    Index at front used for recording staff details only. Typical contents for a log book, recording, disease, absent staff, truancy, syllabus, inspectors' reports, weather, etc. Children are rarely named. Entries from 1908 onwards particularly brief. The following a some of the unusual entries. Badges were introduced for children making good attendance, 1905, 10 Feb 1905 a magic lantern entertainment was given to all the children on the subject of nursery rhymes. These shows were given by the head teacher regularly by Miss Dews. 13 April 1905 'an oblong aquarium has been presented to the Infants School...It has today been stocked.' '12 March 1906 'Have today received a case, sent by the kindness of the trustees of the British Museum containing 136 specimens of British Insects.' 14 Nov 1906 'so many flowers were brought by the chn to school that Hd Tr posted three boxes to London 'slum' schools and sent one to Biggleswade Isolation Hospital.' 29 July 1907 'entertainment was given in the Girls Dept by a travelling managerie.' Snow, chicken pox and measles were among the things keeping the children away from school. Following the opening of the Council Infants school the numbers on the role fell from around 230 to 150 by 1923 the number on the role had dropped to c59. On the 5th September 1927 only 38 children were on the books. Log book ends with the resignation of Miss Broadhurst. Head teachers were: S A Dews (1905-July 1908 resigned to become head of Biggleswade Council School), Broadhurst, Laura Frances (July 1908 - Sept 1927)
