Conveyance (Lease & Release) to uses, with Covenant to surrender
copyhold property: (i) Jas. Wilkins of Wheathamstead, gent. (only
son & heir of J.W., common brewer); (ii) Robt. Parrott, common bre-
wer; & (iii) Danl. Mardall, merchant; all of Wheathamstead (co.
Herts.) - - A messuage in the South End of Luton, fronting on
the common street from Luton to the Brach, called 'The Plough'
(formerly 2 messuages in occ. of Jeremiah Crawley & Geo. Biggs);
2 other messuages adjg., in occ. of John Chew & Thos. Quick;
(which said messuages were formerly occ. (as in BH14); & after-
wards in occ. of Giles Dukes, Wm. Mead, John Watkins & Thos. Saun-
ders); and also 1 1/2 r. arable & pasture in Wheathamstead, togr.
with a messuage formerly called 'The Five Horse Shoes', but now
'The Gibraltar', bounding on land of Thos. Ivory E., & formerly of
Thos. Garrard esq., & now of Chas. G. esq. on W, Lands late of Sar.
Smith on N.E., & the River Lea on S.W.; late in occ. of Henry
Pattermaster, & now of Wm. P., (& purchd. from Francis Wilkins).
Also surrender of:- - A piece of ground, formerly part of the
Chalk Delves, being on Hamwell Hill in Wheathamstead, abutting
on the S.W. part to the road from Bury Green to Hamwell, & on
N.E. to the Lower Heathfield belonging to the Bury Farm; & also
a cottage near Batford Mill in Wheathamstead, in occ. of (blank)
Rumbold, with 1/2 a. arable; (property of the Manor of Wheatham-
stead with Harpenden, to which Jas. Wilkins was admitted tenant
in 1787). Witn: John Boys ( St. Albans (co. Herts.) ) & John
Griffiths (Luton).
