1st deposit of deeds (BH1-53) made in February 1936 and 2nd deposit of deeds, charity documents, terriers, accounts and manorial documents (BH54-456) made in June 1936. Catalogued 1937. The deeds were found partly in their original bundles and partly in a loose state; the former were of course retained as such; those found loose were arranged and artificial bundles created, whether a bundle is original or artificial is identified in the paper catalogue in the searchroom. The testamentary documents in theis collection are all concerned with title to property, and have not been gathered into a separate section. A third deposit, of a large quantity of material was made in 1969. The maps and plans deposited at this time were catalogued as BH457-490. The rest were bundle listed as BHuncat1-389. Two further deposits were made in 1972 (7 Stanbridge deeds BHuncat390) and 1973 (deeds) and these were also added to BHuncat as BHuncat391-402. Items from BHuncat were occasionally catalogued under their uncat number as and when required for research and this caused issues when trying to keep track of what was catalogued and what was still needing to be catalogued and when trying to avoid clashes between BH1-490 and the catalogued BHuncat. It was therefore decided to reference material that was catalogued from BHuncat as BHD. In 2025 an exercise was undertaken to reassess some of BHuncat to improve the bundle listing and to establish some priorities for cataloguing.
