Russell; Occupier: Mrs. C.S.Russell; Owner: J.Evans; Property: Hermitage Farm, Flitton; Land Affected: Fields Nos 8 (6.683 acres to be broken up) and 31 (23.094 acres to be broken up) in Flitton; Additional Information: the Order was served on JE as owner/occupier and C.S.Russell (JE's son-in-law) then took over the tenancy; when the crops failed he and subsequently his widow, had no legal claim as the Order had not been served on them; nevertheless, as the tenancy had been taken out in good faith, as CSR had paid JE for work already done, as CSR would have been subject to an Order to him had he not carried on under the Order served on JE and as his widow was left badly off, the Committee decided to pay compensation anyway.
