A public meeting was held at the Town Hall on Monday the 31st day of December 1928 in connection with the campaign for subscriptions for the town of Bedford towards the Miners' Relief Fund set up by the Lord Mayor of London. The Bedford fund closed on the 30th March 1929 when the chairman reported that the amount received amounted to £1171.2.11 and that the total expenses to date amounted to £10.1.4.
