    Born at Leighton Buzzard 14 June 1873. Served in the 3rd (vol) battalion and 3rd (militia) battalion of the Bedfordshire Regiment, obtaining commission from the latter on 21 Feb 1900. Served with 2nd Battalion in South Africa. Appointed adjutant of the 2nd Battalion Dec 1902 returned to England 1903. Appointed adjutant of 3rd (Vol) Battalion 15 May 1906, promoted to Captain Dec 1908. Rejoined 2nd Battalion in South Africa in Feb 1914 returned to England in September. Accompained battalion ot France in October 1914 and was severely wounded in the First Battle of Ypres. On his recovery was appointed Recruiting Officer at Eastbourne in February 1917. Attached to HQ, East Anglian Reserve Brigade untill August 1918. In 1919 appointed to command the Regimental Depot but retired on 31 Jan 1921.
