- 1689-1713: service in North West Europe including the battles of Namur, Blenheim, Ramillies, Oudenarde and Malplaquet;
- 1713-1745: service in the North of England and in Scotland;
- 1745: service in Belgium;
- 1746-1749: service in Scotland;
- 1749-1767: service in Ireland;
- 1767-1781: service in Amercia including New York, Pensacola [Florida], West Florida and Baton Rouge [Louisiana];
- 1782-1791: service in Ireland;
- 1791-1796: service in Nova Scotia, jamaica and in the Maroon War;
- 1796-1802: Home Service;
- 1803-1815: service in America, West Indies, Canada, Barbados, Surinam, Paramaribo and Quebec;
- 1815-1819: Home Service in Cork;
- 1820-1840: Service in Ceylon and India including Colombo, Calcutta and Cawnpore;
- 1841-1845: Home Service in Ireland;
- 1846-1857: service in Gibraltar, Corfu, Jamaica and Quebec;
- 1858-1889: Home Service and service in Montreal, Halifax [Nova Scotia] and Ireland;
- 1890-1898: service in Malta, India and the North West Frontier including Chitral;
- 1899-1902: service in the Boer War;
- 1903-1914: service in India, Aden, Ireland and South Africa;
- 1914-1918: service in the First World War including Mons, Le Cateau, Marne, Ypres, Suvla, Somme, Palestine and Arras;
- 1919-1939: service in India, Ireland, China and Palestine;
- 1939-1945: service in the Second World War including France 1940 and Dunkirk; Greece; Syria; North Africa including Tobruk and Cape Bon; Far East including Singapore and Burma [Chindits]; Italy including Monte Cassino,and the Gothic Line;
- 1958: amalgamation with the Essex Regiment to form the Third East Anglian Regiment
