Thanks for your letter. As to the two oil portraits I think they are of my mother and her younger sister who died young. But when you next come we will investigate. I should like to see you again, but at present I am having my relations to stay, and Christmas is a very trying and busy time. After the turn of the year do come. I am slightly better in health, but by no means well. Life is very tying though I have much to be thankful for. I have escaped cold this winter, but my staff have all been ill. I regret that your family have been ill. All good wishes to you and yours.
