It is indeed a long time since I saw you and I look forward to your next visit. I have a small engagement entered for the 30th inst, so I will put your coming down for the 7th of May. It will be a pretty time for the country then with the flowering shrubs in blossom. I have been a bit busy lately. I lost a couple of relatives lately, which always entails extra work of some sort, & I do feel that my age makes me less & less inclined for exertion. I am now expecting my widowed daughter-in-law and the grand children for this weekend. My grandson has left the Naval College at Dartmouth with flying colours. He has come out top & won the King's Medal and of course we are very proud of him. Next term he will start actually going to sea. The weather has been very lovely, but I always fear a return to frosty weather and the consequent killing of blossom & early vegetables. Your expedition for June sounds most interesting. I don't know any of the places you name but they are bound to prove well worth visiting. We have had a nice rain - very much wanted. The country still seems in a very serious state and there is no release from taxation. [PS] Have I told you of the burglary we had here? A lot of silver was stolen but all traced & recovered in a fortnight.
