- TitleThanks for your letter. I am much interested to hear that you have been nationalised and am glad that it is not likely to affect you as to your work & doings, though possibly as to your getting a five day week. I too have been nationalised to the extent of most of my gilt edged securities have been taken over and handed back to me at a much reduced rate of capital and interest. This includes railways, canals, gas and now electricity. That and the capital levy of the budget will reduce my income very seriously and may prevent my being able to stay on here, which would be a great blow. I shall stay on if possible. Yes, do come over again. Suggest a date. I am engaged for one or two Saturdays & Sundays 10th, 11th, 17th, and 25th. We have had some sharpish frosts which I fear have done much harm. I am glad you have seen some more fine places & had some good rides. The only one I have seen of those you name [is] Southwell. [PS] My son comes to me this weekend.
