- TitleThanks for your letter. I have been meaning to write to you but this weather does not make me feel very active, and now it seems as if an election this autumn is almost certain. I am in constant contact with my Member Mr Lennox-Boyd as it gives us a lot to think about. I wish it were not so soon, but the affairs of the country are in an awful state and even the new American loan seems to be going wrong. I don't think the people understand our position, especially financial. I could not find the special numbers of the London News so fear they were sent off to the Remand Home. As to photos, when next you come we must have a search, but I fear there are few about as few have been taken during the wars. If the election comes off now I shall be very busy for a long time & I am expecting my grandchildren next week for part of their holiday. Cooper the Butler had to be taken to hospital for an operation about a fortnight ago. He is going on well & will, I hope, be back at the end of this week. I am interested to hear of your long cyclings and meeting the New Zealander. I wish I could have seen him. I have been to Newark - long ago.
