I am glad to get your letter and that you liked the book on dogs. I am also very glad to hear that you are going to train Major to carry. I would advise starting putting light weights fastened on his back so that he cannot throw them off, getting them slightly more and more heavy so that he should get accustomed to having weights on his back. It may take a little time to get him to take it. I asked Mr Lennox-Boyd to get you a picture of Elveden and he sad he would try when he went there, but at present it is given over to the Military. Mr Lennox-Boyd is at present in Bagh-dad on some business mission. I am glad you are still collecting pictures of houses. We are having a sharp snap of wintry weather and probably it will be pleasanter after this for your next expedition here. I am glad that you are all well. The returned P.O.Ws are great comfort. They are both sensible youths and not much the worse for their incarceration, but they have suffered from mal-nutrition. I think many are regretting having supported a Socialist government and so stopping private enterprise. The Welsh Fusiliers are still here. Tomorrow is their great day, St David's. At the Officers' Mess each diner has to eat a raw leek whole & if he wont has to pay for drinks all round. All good wishes.
