- TitleI feel that I have been long in answering your letter but I have been very busy lately, partly in business meetings and partly in seeing friends who have got leave or been demobbed. It is nice to see them over here again but there have been some nasty casualties by air and water among those returning home. The days are getting very short now and I advise you to put off your next visit till the turn of the year. Just before or after Christmas I shall be much engaged & my eldest son and his family will be staying with me for Christmas. I much want to see you again as I have one or two books to give you. Lord Powis is a very old friend & I remember his offering me a party-coloured swan for Whipsnade. He had two sons, one died after the last war & one in this one. His only daughter married a French duke. I am glad that Major has been good in duty and health. The country (in fact the world) seems to be in a very unsettled state.
