Folio 67 - see also ABP/11 Folio 62 - Thomas Layne of parish of Our Blessed Lady in Steventon made 16 Jan. pr. 3 Mar. 1544/5. Burial in the church yard of Steventon near the place where his wife lies. He wants three pounds of wax burnt about his hearse on the day of his burial, and on his month's day likewise. He desires a trental of masses to be done for him and his friends, and a yearly obit in Steventon church for 6 years after his death, both to be arranged by his son Peter. To the high altar there 8d., to the bells 8d., and 12d. is to be used for the church where most need is. To Thomas Everell his son in law, and to his wife, 2 bushels of wheat this year, and one bushel next year, also half a quarter of barley this year and half a quarter of beans next year, and son Peter to help them as he promised to do. Thomas Layne the son of Peter Layne to have the folding table and 2 sheep. To Clare, Anne and Margery Layne 4d. each. To John Barton "a howse" and Mother Purser to have testator's russet coat. Residue to son Peter Layne, who is to give 6s. 8d. to poor folks for testator's soul, and also distribute most of testator's clothing. Executor son Peter and supervisors son-in-law Thomas Everill and also Richard Whyte. Witnesses Thomas Everill, Richard Whyte, Richard Agnes, Richard Purser and testator's ghostly father sir Robert Wylkenson.
