    Parties (i) George Maddison of Winchester (Co. of Southampton), esq., lieutenant colonel in H.M.'s 77th Regiment of Foot, 2nd son and one of the devisees in the will of George Maddison, formerly of Stainton Vale in the Parish of Stainton in the Hole (Lincs.) but late of Dunstable Priory, esq., Col. in H.M. Army, deceased, and Mary, wife of GM the son. (ii) Mordaunt Lawson Clennell of Staple Inn, London, gent. (iii) Henry Alington of Hertford (Herts.), gent. Recitals: none Operative part Conveyance from (i) to (ii), (for docking, barring and destroying all estates tail and all reversions and remainders thereupon limited, expectant, or depending of and in the estates described below; for barring and extinguishing all dower and thirds of the said Mary of and in the same; and for duly and effectively conveying and assuring the said manor etc. with their rights and appurtenances to and for the several uses, intents and purposes, upon the trusts and subject to the powers limited, expressed and declared of and concerning the same; and in consideration of 10s. paid to (i) by (ii)) of: (a) manor of Dame Sayers otherwise Kensworth as in BORDV13/8(a), and BORDV13/10(a). (b) capital messuage or manor house in South St., Dunstable etc. as in BORDV13/8(b), (and BORDV13/10(b)): described here as sometime since in the occupation of Thomas Crawley, Doctor of Physic, deceased, afterwards of John Bird, then of Thomas Cooke, since of the said GM, deceased, and now or late of James Field, his undertenants or assigns. (c) close of pasture known as the Priory as in BORDV13/8(c), and ?BORDV13/10(b)). (d) close or piece of pasture ground called Dovehouse Close or Clarks Close (see BORDV13/1-2). (e) toft, piece, or parcel of ground whereon a messuage, tenement or Inn called the Crown and other buildings belonging thereto heretofore stood, in Dunstable, heretofore in the tenure or occupation of John Cook, since of Nassau Smith and now or late of William Gresham, his undertenants or assigns. (f) close, lately 2 closes and heretofore 3 closes, of pasture ground in Dunstable, adjoining or near (e) and containing 5 acs., also heretofore in the tenure or occupation of JC etc., (save and except a piece of ground containing in length 11 yds. 2', in breadth 6 yds., part of (f), abutting E. on Watling St. and bounded on the S. by a new erected messuage, now or late belonging to Thomas Coles of Dunstable, wheelwright, in his own occupation, and on the N. by the residue of the said close, which said excepted piece of ground was, by Indenture of 20 June 1805, conveyed by GM the father to Thomas Coles in fee in exchange for the piece of ground mentioned below to be, by the same Indenture, conveyed to GM by TC). (g) messuage or tenement, garden and stable with appurtenances in Dunstable, heretofore in the occupation of Henry White, afterwards of Robert Matthews, Sarah Matthews, widow, and Sarah Pardon, some or one of them, since that of William Hale, then of Frances Hale, widow, afterwards of Nassau Smith and now or late of William Gresham, his undertenants or assigns, with the slip or piece of ground adjoining and belonging thereto, (e) lying on the S., Watling St. on the E., the common field of Dunstable on the W. and the tenement formerly in the occupation of Richard Chesshyre, since of Thomas Coles and now or late of Mary Nicholls, and another slip or piece of ground, belonging to the Duke of Bedford, lying N. (h) piece of ground in Dunstable containing in length from E. to W. 24 yds., in breadth in part (at the W. end) 9 yds., and in other part (at the E. end) 2 yds., bounded on the W.,N., and E., by (f), and on the S. by the garden and one end of the barn or workshop now or late belonging to Thomas Coles, which said piece of ground was, by the said Indenture of 20 June 1805, conveyed by Thomas Coles to George Maddison the father in exchange as aforesaid (see (f)) and is now laid into and forms part of (f) and now is or late was in the occupation of William Gresham, his undertenants or assigns. Habendum: to (ii), his heirs and assigns to the intent that he may become tenant of the freehold thereof in order that 2 or more good and perfect Common Recoveries (see BORDV13/12c above) may be had and suffered thereof, in Easter Term ensuing, in manner expressed as series of agreements and declarations). Agreement and declaration that after suffering and perfecting the said Common Recoveries, the full force, operation and effect thereof shall be and enure to the use of such person(s), for such estate(s) or interest(s), upon such trust(s) etc. and subject to such powers, provisoes, and conditions etc. as GM by any deed or writing, with or sans power of revocation and new appointment, or by his will, shall direct, limit or appoint of or concerning the land or any part thereof and in default of such direction, limitation and appointment, to GM and his assigns for life and, after determination of that estate, to (iii) and his assigns during the life of GM, in trust for GM and his assigns, and from and after determination of that estate, to the use and behoof of GM, his heirs and assigns for ever.
