    Office copy 'extract' of probate of will of Thomas Crawley of Dunstable, M.B. Devises to John Lord, rector of Drayton Parslow (Bucks.) in fee, subject to, and charged with, his debts, legacies and funeral expenses: (a) Manor of 'Dame Sayer' in Dunstable and Kensworth with its rights, members and appurtenances and his capital messuage or manor house belonging thereto, wherein he now dwells, in Dunstable with the orchards and closes of pasture ground adjoining and belonging thereto with appurtenances (i.e. as in BORDV13/3(c)) and all other his messuages and tenements in Dunstable. (b) Manor of Clifton Lacies with its rights etc. and his capital messuage or manor house and farm with arable land, meadow, pasture and appurtenances belonging to the same in the parish of Clifton, now in the occupation of John Field and/or his undertenant(s). (c) 3 messuages, cottages or tenements in Clifton (now in the several tenures or occupations of William Ward, Thomas Coxe, William Rogers and Richard Edwards) with all houses, outhouses, edifices buildings, orchards and gardens. Gives and bequeathes the following legacies to be paid within 1 year after his decease: £200 to Newdigate Poyntz esq. of Hexton ('Hexan') in Herts., £30 each to James Hanscombe of Clifton, husbandman, and his wife Elizabeth, £30 to his servant Grace Burrow and £5 to his servant Benjamin Taylor. Gives and bequeathes the residue of his personal estate (except such part as he shall give and dispose of 'by a Paper Writing signed with my own Name and enclosed in this my Will' [i.e. with the original will] and which he desires his executor to comply with after payment of his debts, legacies and funeral expenses) to JL whom he makes sole executor and residuary legatee. 14 Dec 1752. Witnesses: Thomas Howard, John Sharpe and Ambrose Reddall. Gives and bequeathes (in pursuance of the above mentioned exception) his riding horse and colt to Newdigate Poyntz and all his china to Godfrey Webster esq. Probate at London, 17 Jan 1753.
