Letter from Leonard Withers of 38 Lambert Cottages, Port Tennant, Swansea: - I was one with your Auntie Patti a good spell yesterday morning and she said she was trying to get a job in the hospital but I don't know if she has been yet. - I haven't done any work this week yet. - If I work I won't be up till Sat but if there isn't any work and the weather is fairly good I dare say I will see you tomorrow (Fri). - I found an old tyre today so I put another wheel in the bike and this other tyre. You should see me now I am as black as the ace of clubs. My mother wants to know if I will ever be clean again. I haven't washed all day (I am at Swansea). - Mrs. Fennell says that J. Hopkins has got a bad throat and in the place where he is lodging there are 12 children. - Cissie was in the house showing us her arm. Last Sun night she fell down by the corner and her arm has swollen. It is as big as her leg (very nasty). (Bigger than yours). - Your Uncle Jim had a bit of luck last Saturday. He won half a sweep 5£ odd each. - Have you heard of that Naval disaster ? off Bermuda. Well my cousin's (Will) boat picked up the survivors. I was talking to his father till 10.30pm Tuesday when I went to post your last letter and see if there was any work.
