    Gwyneth Evelyn Thomas was born in Tondu, South Wales on the 26th June 1910. The bulk of this small collection consists of letters from her future husband Leonard Withers while they were young sweethearts living apart in South Wales. In March 1936 Leonard applied for a transfer from his employment at Swansea Docks and subsequently moved to Bedfordshire, starting work with the London Brick Company & Forder Ltd at their Stewartby works. Gwyneth and her first daughter Marian Kathleen and Megan Thomas her young sister in her care soon followed suit and the family rented numerous properties in Bedfordshire before buying and moving to 51 Deacon Avenue, Kempston in November 1939. Gwyneth and Thomas were to have several other children while in Bedfordshire including: Anthony, Valerie, Leonard and Carolyn. Unfortunately Leonard Withers then a leather dresser, aged 49 died in a cycle accident on the junction of Littledale Street and Bedford Road on the 29th Dec 1952. Gwyneth stayed in the area until she died on the 22nd Mar 1982 at Bedford, South Wing Hospital.
