    Draft letter from John Green to John Thomas Brooks: "I have not succeeded at present in making out whether the Several Batches of Cottages &c are of Freehold or Copyhold Tenure - some certainly are of the latter - but I have ascertained that there has been no admission since that of Jeffery Fisher in 1748. It is not likely that the Lord of the Manor (the Court of the Duchy of Lancaster) will take advantage of this - but it is a somewhat serious difficulty both has to expense & proof of pedigree. I am going [to] attend to it but I cannot have it offered for sale until this & other perils are cleared up. If you will refer to a Letter I wrote you (I think on 21 May 1855 [HN2/B3/20/14) you will see that on the... ... ... look at the Title I saw ... to apprehend there being difficulties"
