Two pictures of Mr Thomas Haynes and his wife Mary (ne Houghton) on their 67 wedding anniversary. Taken by Paige Stuart and used in the Beds Times 27 January 1928. Incribed on the back as follows: Mr Thomas Haynes (aged 88) and Mrs Haynes (85) who have both lived at Goldington, Bedford, all their lives, photographed today (Tuesday) - the 67th anniversary of their wedding. "I started onion-wedding when I was 9" said Mr Haynes, "and I have never missed a season since." He still works as a market garener on his half-an-acre of land, and himself takes his produce to Bedford. Mr Haynes has never had a day's illness in his life, a fact which he attributes to hard work in the open air. Photograph was taken at the door of the couple's old-world cottage where they have lived for nearly half a century.
