    Sir Alan Cobham had been a test pilot for De Havilland's but in 1927 he left the company and formed his own firm, National Aviation Day, moving from airfield to airfield giving joy rides to local people. He spent the summer of 1929 touring Britain with "Youth of Britain" which he then sold to Imperial Airways for their survey of a route over Africa. The plane was wrecked at Broken Hill the following year. For newspaper report see Beds Times 17 May 1929
