  • Title
Letter from Richard Dillingham at RFC Camp, [France] to Christine Dillingham at Kings Road, Flitwick - writer is missing home and wishes he was there with his wife instead of being "stuck out here in this miserable place"; - asks if his wife is struggling to get hold of groceries, bread and meat and if she is not to send him food parcels; - details what food he is getting in the camp and what time the meals are; - notes that there is plenty of food at the canteens if you wish to pay for it; - comments there are 12 men in his tent and little room to move with rifles and kit everywhere. Has only just got a blanket before this he was just sleeping in his coat; - "The training we are getting here is a bit stiff especially for the older men" and he thinks that the wet weather will "knock half of them up one way and another but its no use going sick as they take very little notice of it"; - notes they are in what is known as a Duty Company; - hopes to go to the service in the YMCA but wishes he was going to his own church service with his wife; - "I should not have told you so much but don't worry yourself about what I have written"
