  • Title
Letter from John D Bassett, Holyhead and Dublin Express Steamers, to Francis Bassett, The Heath, Leighton Buzzard. Arrived in Dublin this morning. Fred has a very nice nurse and is much better but must be kept quiet so Mary must be taken away. Has persuaded her to go to stay with Kitty for a short time. Is now on board with him. May be able to induce her to stay on with Mrs Brooks. Mary says she has been worried about finances. £100 owing to Cox was borrowed to pay off Brother Frank, from whom she borrowed £100 after her mother's death. Other debts are about £60 or £70. Fred intends to get rid of house at Christmas as it is condemned as unfit. He then thinks he will sell the furniture and take a small house in England, perhaps near Mrs Brooks and Kitty. Of course Mary must pay Kitty for her keep. Fred will send a list of outstanding debts.
