Copy of letter from F. Bassett, 12, Belvedere, Weymouth, to Mr J Atkinson, Q C., M P. The late Mrs Bassett never consulted him about her daughter's engagement and he never heard of his [Mr Atkinson's] letter of remonstrance to her. He doubts if letter was seen by nephew 'as she rather kept him at arm's length'. Writer only heard of his objections to the marriage on the wedding day when he expressed surprise at absence of any of Arthur's family.
Simple separation by mutual agreement is what should be be aimed at
