Letter from G E Cruickshank, 5, Stone Buildings, Lincoln's Inn, London W C, to Francis Bassett, Esq., Leighton Buzzard. He is doubtless aware that by deed of 25 September 1884 Henry Tylor assigned, i) policies of life assurance, ii) life interest in a legacy of £18,000 settled by will of J D Bassett, iii) his 1/3rd share in residuary estate of Rachel Savory, subject to life interest of Edward Paull, and iv) his 3/7th share in funds under a settlement of 28 November 1837, subject to life interest of Edward Paull, to G W Binns. These were subject to, as to i), to a mortgage to secure £3250 and interest, and as to iii), to a mortgage to F Bassett to secure £1200 and interest. Mortgage to G W Binns was to secure £3900 owing to persons in schedule to the deed. G W Binns has disappeared. He believes Mr Bassett is one of trustees of will of J D Bassett and person through whom H Tylor receives his life interest in £18,000, and writer asks, on behalf of wife and her sisters who are interested in sums secured by said mortgage, whether premiums and interest are being paid out of H Tylor's life interest or by himself personally. 'This is, I think, the least they can expect.' Under mortgage deed they could insist on whole of balance of life interest of H Tylor being applied in reduction of principal sum. Could Mr Bassett tell him in what way items iii) and iv) were applied on death of Edward Paull. He understands that Mr Binns handed Mr Bassett said mortgage deed. Has he got it? They are considering applying to the Court for the appointment of new trustees in place of Mr Binns
