Letter with text as follows Stationed Great Oakley [Essex] No.1 Gun Guard [10th Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment] [undated but presumably between Aug 1916 and Jan 1917]] My Dearest Little Nora I am writing a little letter to you to see how you are getting on, you will see by the address I am doing a Guard for an Air Craft Gun. I am about 4 miles from Harwich right out in the Country. We came on Sunday Morning and we are going back this morning, Monday. It seems a treat to get away from the Camp if only for a few hours. We have a nice little Hut with a nice little cooking range in. I was cook yesterday, you would have liked to have been with me to help, I know, it did seem a treat to be able to sit against a nice fire, it is a long time since I was able to do so. Tell Mama I quite forgot to mention about Mr.Edwards when I wrote, she knew him, he was a tall man, very joking when he met us, he had a clot of blood round his head, they expected he would go sudden when he did go. Well, little darling, you must give my love to Gordon and Brenda and be sure and look after them for your dear Mother and be sure and help her to do the work and be a good little girl. I think I have told you all, I will conclude with fondest love to Mother and your dear little self and to Gordon and Brenda Your Ever Loving Father xxxxx A. Mawer
