    Letters from Private Alfred Mawer, 10thm later 7th, Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment Information from Mrs.Sherratt, Soldiers Died in the Great War and from Commonwealth War Graves Commission is as follows: Alfred Mawer was born at Revesby, Boston, Lincolnshire, the son of Solomon and the late Margaret Mawer. He enlisted in the 10th Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment at Northampton and lived at 112 Dickens Street, Peterborough. He was the husband of Amy Florence Mawer and father of Nora (1913-1986), Gordon (1915-1998) and Brenda (born 1916) Mawer. He was killed in action at Glencorse Wood, near Ypres on 10 Aug 1917 at the age of 38. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Menin Gate at Ypres.
