    Draft Abstract of Title of Mr Joseph Gibbons to cottages and premises at Toddington sold by auction to Mr Gazeley, being Lot 1, recites - 30 July 1802 extract from will of John Bishop decd, yeoman, late of Toddington, devising to cousin Richard Fensom, butcher of Toddington, all freehold and copyhold in Toddington now or late occ by Richard Fensom, James Fensom, Thomas Saunders, Francis Spufford the younger, John Spufford, John Parker and tesator; a few small legacies to be paid out of his estates and effects. Residue to cousin Richard Fensom as above. Richard Fensom and Thomas Gregory executors. Proved PCC 17th April 1806 - 31 March 1807 Feoffment with livery and seisin between Richard Fensom, butcher of Toddington, devisee of John Bishop who was son and heir of Hannah Bishop of Toddington, and Richard Fensom, butcher of Toddington, son and heir of above Richard Fensom. RF granted to RF the son, out of natural love and affection and for his better maintenance and livelihood: - messuage now divided into 2 tenements occ by John Bennell and Richard Bishop and late of John Bishop and John Spufford, then of said RF the son and John Spuford, in Finns Lane, Toddington, together with brewhouse and small barn; excepting the yard and garden and other premises then laid to certain other premises belonging to RF the grantor occ by Thomas Atthews and Benjamin Attwood and adj to premises granted Covenant to produce deeds starting in 1737 - 5th May 1807 Mortgage for 100 [see Z 1186/2] - 13/14th July 1809 Lease and Release [Z 1186/4] - 15th July 1809 Mortgage for 140 [Z 1186/6] - 5th May 1814 Further loan of 42 - 29/30th November 1814 [Z 1186/8] - 19 March 1833 affidavit [Z 1186/10] - 10 May 1833 affidavit of Sarah Gibbons of Pulloxhill, widow of Thomas Gibbons. TG was at the time of his marriage a bachelor. He died 1814 without having any issue and was buried at Tingrith. He was the second son of Thomas Gibbons late of Tingrith, formerly of Wilton, then Harpole. John Gibbons the first son married Mary Medcraft and lived at Chalton, then Fancot. He died around 1822 and was buried at Tingrith without having any legitimate or other issue, leaving Joseph Gibbons, yeoman of Tingrith, the 3rd son, his eldest surviving brother and heir. - 27/28 Aug 1834 Lease and release between Joseph Gibbons, yeoman of Tingrith and Sarah his wife, William Peppercorn Squire, yeoman of Silsoe, and John Thomas Brooks Esq of Flitwick. John Gibbons died 1822 intestate, leaving widow Mary Gibbons surviving. Thomas Gibbons, his eldest brother, had died and Joseph was his next eldest brother. John Gibbons' will was dated 29 Dec 1800 and proved by executors at PCC. Mary Gibbons had since died. Recites mortgage of 400 transferred to J T Brooks and increased to 800. Sarah Gibbons agreed to bar dower. JG agreed to repay JTB 1200 on 28th August 1835. Relates to hereditaments in Pulloxhill with 3 tenements in Toddington . - 16/17 Man 1839 Lease and release between J T Brooks, Joseph Gibbons, Mr Eagles of Ampthill. 1200 repaid. Declaration barring dower. - 12 Nov 1842 will of Joseph Gibbons. Devised property in Pulloxhill and 2 tenements divided being in Chalton occ by Geo Hailey & -- Gobby, cottage in Chalton occ by -- Keen, messuage divided into 3 tenements in Finns Lane occ by King, Fensom and Valentine to use of son Joseph Gibbons and John Daniel of Eversholt, yeoman on trust to sell it. Testator died 16 Sept 1850, will proved 15 Nov.
