J Everitt was a member of St Andrew's Church Choir as a boy. When he was 16 years old, in 1957, he was approached to be a tenor in Ampthill Operatic Society. While a member of the Society, he also built scenery and props. He was later a member of the 'Patchwork Quartet', made up of Michael Dobson, Mary Brown, and Patricia Almond. Mr Everitt ended up working in constructrion and was site manager for the building of Tesco in Flitwick. The site was notable for its waffle concrete construction method.
