    Letters of limited administration were granted to Charles Austin of Ampthill on behalf of Thomas Edwin of Heath and Reach, Leighton Buzzard for the estate of Ann Abbot Humberstone, widow and administratrix of Laurence Humberstone of Ampthill, surgeon, to settle title of land in Church Street, Ampthill, originally belongong to Henry Hurst, schoolmaster, and his wife Elizabeth and since transferred by various indentures.

    Land and premises referred to in indentures in Church Street, Ampthill, bordering holdings of Thomas Arnold to the East, George Hooper to the West amd the highwaqy to the North. also included was a gallery seat or pew in Ampthill church. Indenture dated 22 Jan 1877 between Henry Hurst and his wife passed lands to William Brooks of Clophill, butcher. 1788 indenture passed lands to Thomas Brooks of Clophill, auctioneert, via Benjamin Muggleston of Hitchin, executor of William Brooks, since deceased. 1789 indenture transferred lands to Laurence Humberstone of Ampthill, surgeon for the use of Rev Samuel Greatheed, clerk. Both Humberstones deceased, Ann Abbott Humberstone having died without assigning remainder of 500yr term Thomas Edwin now legally entitled to land, now divided in two and one part agreed to be sold to David McLaughlan, gentleman. Letters of adminstration requeted to allow settlement of title and allow sale to proceed.
