- Scope and ContentINDICTIMENT The King -v- Albert Rowbottom Court of Trial: Bedfordshire Quarter Sessions held at Bedford Presentment of the Grand Jury: Albert Rowbottom is charged with the following Offence: - First Count. Statement of Offence: - Obtaining goods by false pretences contrary to Section 32(1) of Larceny Act 1916. Particulars of Offence: - Albert Rowbottom on the Eleventh and twelfth days of July in the year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and Twenty-two in the County to Bedford with intent to defraud obtain from Martha Arnold 4 ounces of bacon, 4 ounces of fish, 8 ounces of bread, 2 ounces of cheese, 2 ounces of butter, 8 ounces of potatoes, 4 ounces of fruit and one egg, by falsely pretending that he the said Albert Rowbottom had a lorry broken down on the road and that he the said albert Rowbottom had been sent to the said Martha Arnold for a lodging by Mr. Henshaw at the Garage, meaning George Alfred Henshaw of the North Road Motor Company Limited at Eaton Socon who was well known to the said Martha Arnold. Second Count. Statement of Offence: - Obtaining credit, contrary to Section 13 (1) of the Debtors Act 1869 Particulars of Offence: - Arthur Rowbottom on the twelfth day of July in the Year aforesaid in the County of Bedford in incurring a debt on liability to Ernest Arnold obtain credit from the said Ernest Arnold under false pretences Third Count. Statement of Offence: -. Obtaining Credit contrary to Section 13(1) of the Debtors Act 1869. Particulars of Offence: - Arthur Rowbottom on the twelfth day of July in the year aforesaid in the County of Bedford in incurring a debt or liability to Ernest Arnold obtained credit from the said Ernest Arnold by means of fraud other than false pretences Date of Trial: - 11th October 1922 Plea: - Not Guilty.
