Bastardy Order between Ada Wright of Biddenham & Arthur Charles Bailey of 20 Coventry Road, Bedford

14a) on 12th February 1918 she, Ada Wright was delivered of the child, claiming Arthur Charles Bailey to be the father & that he within the 12 months after the birth of the said child, pay money for it's maintenance. It is adjudged that he is the putative father of the child & that he should pay 10 shillings per week until the child is 16 years old. I Arthur Charles Bailey of 20 Coventry Road Bedford, a machinist, do hereby give you notice thatit is my intention at the next Quarter Sessions held in Bedford to appeal against a certain order made against me at the Petty Sessional Court on 30th September 1922 adjudging that I am the putative father of a bastard child of the said Ada Wright born 12th February 1918 & ordering me to pay 10/- per week for the mainenance & education of the said child thenceforth until the child attains the age of 16 years. take note of the general grounds of such appeal are as follows :- 1. that I am not the father of the said child 2. that the evidence of Ada Wright was not corroborated in any material particular 3. that there was no or not sufficient evidence before the Court entitling them to make the said order dated 6th October 1922 signed Arthur Charles Bailey 14e, 14f) appeal from Arthur Charles Bailey, to E T Williams Esq. 3 St Pauls Square, Bedford, Solicitor, clerk of Petty Sessional Court sitting at Shire Hall & to Ada Wright of Biddenham spinster.
