Charles I to the wardens and commonality of the mistery of mercers of the City of London
..The manor of Chalgrave, with members, messuages, profits of the court and of view of frankpledge, in Chalgrave, Wingfield, Tebworth, Toddington, Hockliffe, Dunstable and Houghton regis; late in occupation of Nicholas Potts, esq, by demise from Jane, Lady Cheyne, deceased;
a messuage known as Chalgrave Farm, with messuages and lands, demised by Thomas, Lord Wentworth and Anna, Lady Wentworth to Joseph Cowper;
all copyhold rents of the manor of Chalgrave;
all messuages, lands and rents late of Anthony Croft esq and by him bargained and sold to Charles I;
to be held as of the manor of East Greenwich in free and common socage, rendering the accustomed services.
