whereas: Richard Ashwell, yeoman, leased to Robert Newman, yeoman 10 Jan 1637 for 750 years, premises which were conveyed ultimately by indenture 9 Jun 1806 to Thomas Burr, common brewer
And: Thomas Burr who died 13 July 1835, by will dated 28 Jun 1835 proved in Perogative Court of Canterbury 2 Dec. 1835 by his execs. named in (i), bequeathed property to nephew (ii) subject to an executory devise in favour of Mary Burr (i) which has become impossible as (ii) became 21 years in 1840.
Now: (i) at request of (ii) sell to (iii) in consideration of £300: newly erected leasehold [...] public house called the Dukes Head, Totternhoe, with garden in front, and yard, cowhouse, piggeries, stables, barn, woodhouse, garden, orchard and paddock adj. amounting to 1ac.2r and commons thereto adj. occ. John Bellington; site of which was formerly known as Spilmans and was occ. by William Turner
To hold in equal shares as tenants in common, subject to yearly rent of 1/4d
