Yors Truly Clerk of Peace. 4c) Letter from Alexander Farr, Solicitor, St Pauls Square, Bedford to W W Marks . Dear Sir, Herewith I send copy notice of Appeal that has been given against the conviction of Sidney Goosey Frost by the justices of the Bedford DIvision & I shall be glad if you will enter the appeal for hearing at the next Quarter Sessions for Bedfordshire your faithfully, Alex Farr 4d) In the County of Bedford, Petty Sessionsl Division of Bedford Before the Court of Summary Jurisdiction sitting at the Shire Hall Bedford in & for the said Petty Sessional Division, The 8th April 1922 ;- Sidney Goosey Frost of Houghton Conquest is this day covicted that he on 18th March 1922 at Biddenham was unlawfully drunk while in charge, on a certain highway, carriage to wit, a motor car. And it is adjudged that the defendant for his said offence be imprisoned in His Majesty's Prison at Bedford & kept there for one month, Signed : Walter Harter justice of the Peace 4e, 4f, 4g) 3 copies of the same statement :- to Edward Taunton Williams Esquire, Clerk of the Court of Summary Jurisdiction sitting at Bedford & to Walter G Purser of Bedford, Superintendent of Police; I, Sidney Goosey Frost of Wootton, Nothampstonshire, a farmer, do hereby give you & each of you notice that it is my intention at the next Quarter Sessions fo the Peace at Bedford, to appeal against a coniction of me by the court sitting on 8th April 1922, for that on 18th March 1922 at Biddenham I was drunk while in charge of a motor car on the highway & that the grounds for such appeal are :- 1. That there was no or not sufficient evidence to justify the said coviction 2. That the decision was aggainst the weight of evidence. 3. & that I am not guilty of the said offence dated 11th April 1922 signed Sidney Goosey Frost 4h) The Recognizance, In The County of Bedford, Petty Sessional, Divison of Bedford. The under mentioned personsseverallly acknowledge themselves to owe to our Sovereign Lord the King the sums following namely :- Sidney Goosey Frost of Houghton Conquest, Farmer, as principal the sum of £50. Thomas Ernest Davies of Elstow, Farmer & John Edward White of Goldington, Farmer, as sureties £25. each to be levied on their several goods, lands & tenements if the said principal fail in the cindition hereon endorsed. Signed; Sidney Goosey Frost, John Edward White, Thomas Ernest Davies, taken before me 13th April 1922, signed Fred, W Conquest, Justice of the Peace 4i) Condition :- The condition of the above Recognizance is such that if the within bounden principal shall at the next Court of General or Quarter sessions to be hilden in & for the Court of Summary Jurisdication sitting at the Shire Hall Bedfordin & for the Petty Sessional Division of Bedford bearing the date 8thApril 1922 whereby the principal was convicted that on 18th March 1922 at Biddenham he was unlawfully drunk while in charge on a highway of a motor car & that if the principal shall appear at the next Sessions & prosecute such appeal & abide the judgemnt of the Court thereon & pay such cost as may be awarded thereby then the Reconnizance shall be void but otherwise shall remain in full force. 4j) At the general Quarter Sessions of the Peace for the County of Bedford held on 28th June 1922 on an appeal by the within named Sidney Goosey Frost it was prdered that the convistion by confirmed that in lieu of the sentence of imprisonment a fine of £2 & costs be imposed & that the licence of the said Sidney Goosey Frost be endorsed & not suspended.
