    Indictment The King -v- David Lyon Beauclerk Turnbull. Court of Trial: Bedfordshire Quarter Sessions held at Bedford. Presentment of the Grand Jury: - David Lyon Beauclerk Turnbull is charged with the following Offences: - First Count: - Statement of Offence: - Obtaining goods by false pretences, contrary to Section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act, 1916 Particulars of Offence:- David Lyon Beauclerk Turnbull on the fourteenth day of January 1922 in the county of Bedford with intent to defraud obtain from Foster Brothers Clothing Company Limited one suit of clothes, one pair of braces, one pair of pants, one shirt, one vest, one pyjamas suit, three pairs of socks, three collars, three handkerchiefs and one necktie by falsely pretending that he the said David Lyon Beauclerk Turnbull was Captain R.E. Beevor, late of the 18th Q.M.O.R. Hussars and was a Member of the Cavalry Club, and that a certain paper writing which he the said David Lyon Beauclerk Turnbull then produced and delivered to Thomas Edwin Hutchinson the Manager of the shop at Luton of the said Foster Brothers Clothing Company Limited then was a good and valid order for the payment of Thirteen Pounds five shillings and seven pence and that he the said David Lyon Beauclerk Turnbull then had authority to draw a cheque upon the National Provincial and Union Bank of England Limited situate at Luton. Second Count: - Statement of Offence: - Obtaining money by false pretences, contrary to Section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act, 1916. Particulars of Offence:- David Lyon Beauclerk Turnbull on the sixteenth day of January in the year aforesaid in the County of Bedford with intent to defraud obtaining from William Herbert Skipper the sum of two pounds and nine pence half-penny by falsely pretending that he the said David Lyon Beauclerk Turnbull was Captain R.E. Beevor and that a certain paper writing which he the said David Lyon Beauclerk Turnbull then produced and delivered to the said William Herbert Skipper then was a good and valid order for payment of Seven pounds and that he the said David Lyon Beauclerk Turnbull then had authority to draw a cheque upon the National Provincial and Union Bank of England Limited situate at Luton. Date of Trial: - 5th April, 1922 Plea: Guilty Judgement: Fifteen months imprisonment with hard labour to run concurrent with sentence on the indictment for misdemeanour.
