Be it remembered on 3rd October 1921, Charles Panter of Luton personally came before me, one of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace acknowledged himself to owe our Sovereign Lord the King the sum of £20 each of good & lawful Money of Great Britain, to be made & levied of their Goods & Chatels, Lands & Tenements if he the said Charles Panter shall fail in the condition indorsed. Taken & acknowledged the day & year first mentioned at the Court House, Luton before me Edwin Oakley one of His Majesty's Justice of the Peace

The Condition of the written Recognizance is such, That whereas the said Jennie Smith was this day charged before the said Justice of the Peace, on a charge of Larceny, If therefore he the said Charles Panter shall appear at the next court of General Quarter session of Peace to be holden at the Shire Hall, Bedford., & there prefer or cause to be preferred Bill of Indictmentagainst the said Jennie Smith for the offence aforesaid & duly prosecute such Indictment, & give evidence thereon as well to the Jurorswho shall there inquire of the Offence as also to them who shall pass upon the trial of the said Jennie Smith then the Recognizance to be void, or else to stand in the full force & virtue.
