James Charles of Warren Hills Old Bedford Road Luton, & Patrick Thomas Murphy of Maplethorpe, Marsh Road Leagrave personally came before me, one of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace severally acknowledged to owe our Sovereign Lord the King the several sums following ; Frederick Mason £50., James Charles & Patrick Thomas Murphy £25. each, of good & lawful Money of Great Britain, to be made & levied of their Goods & Chatels, Lands & Tenements if he the said Frederick Mason fail in the condition indorsed. Taken & acknowledged the day & year first mentioned at the Court House, Luton before me John I Wright one f His Majesty's Justice of the Peace

- Scope and ContentThe Condition of the written Recognizance is such, That whereas the said Frederick Mason was this day charged before the said Justice of the Peace, on a charge of indecent assault. If therefore the said Frederick Mason shall appear at the next court of General Quarter session of Peace to be holden at the Shire Hall, Bedford., & surrender himself into the custody of the Governor of His Majesty's Gaol there, & plead to such Indictment as may be found against him by the Grand Jury, for or in respect of the charge aforesaid, & take his trial upon the same, & not depart the said Court without leave, then the said Recognizance to be void. or else to satnd in full force & virtue.
