1a) Recognizance on 3rd August 1921 for John William Nicholson of Biggleswade Superintendent of Police, Acknowledges himself to be indebted to our Sovereign Lord the King, in the sum of £20. Taken & acknowledged before R Oswald Fordham Justice of the Peace for the County of Bedford The condition of the recognizane is such, That where as Neville Bushell was charged before Rupert Oswald Fordham Esq. that on 26th July 1921 at Broom Southill feloniously did steal take & carry away 2 dutch hoes, one spud, one garden fork, one broom, a turfing iron, a flat hoe, a rowing hoe 2 crowbars,a garden hose & reel, total value £8.16.0 the goods & chattels of messrs John King & Sons. Contrary to the form of the Statute. If the said John William Nicholson shall appear at the next court of Quarter Sessions of the Peace in Bedford & cause to preferred a Bill of Indictment against Neville Busell for the offence. Then the recognizance will be void or else stand in fill force & virtue.Signed R Owald Fordham Justice of the Peace.
