- Scope and ContentReciting: 18 May 1876 - Absolute surrender by John Edmonds (1), formerly of Abbotts Langley, Herts, farmer, latterly of Langley Road, Watford, gentleman, tenant of the Manor of Kensworth and his wife Mary, came before Henry Day of Hemel Hempstead, gentleman, Deputy Steward and John Benjamin Lee, gentleman, Chief Steward of the said Manor. In consideration of the sum of £260.00 paid by Joseph Chennells (2) of Eddlesborough, Bucks, farmer. Messuage or tenements situated in the parish of Kensworth wherein John Smith formerly dwelt and on which John Smith erected on ground lying near the dwelling house of John Bracking, fronting the Common Green now known as Kensworth Green, estimated to be 19 feet in length and 15 feet in depth "upon which a building called a hovel formerly stood". And also all the pieces of ground belonging to the three cottages or tenements erected and built by William Iredale a former owner of the said premises., all of which were in the occupation of Sharp, Cook, Punter and Willis to which said premises (1) was admitted tenant from John Stainer and Thomas Taylor the executors of the will of William Iredale 8 June 1854. 18 May 1876 - Indenture of the above. 9 June 1876 - Memorandum of admission of (2) at the Court Baron of the Ecclesiastical Commission for England. (2) requested to the Lords of Kensworth Manor to be admitted as tenant of the described premises. Granted by the Deputy Steward J Bolton.
