    (i) Thomas Wells, the elder, Great Gaddesden, Herts, gentleman Edward Hubert, Great Gaddesden, Herts, gentleman William Wells, the elder, Ivinghoe, Bucks, gentleman (ii) George Samm, Pirton, Herts, yeoman Reciting that Thomas Wells and wife Frances did in Hilary term last levy a fine to Thomas Hubert and William Wells of - Messuage, lands etc hereinafter mentioned The use of this fine was declared to be to the use of Thomas Hubert and William Wells to enable them to pay an annuity to (ii) – the name of George Samm, of Shillington, yeoman Now in consid. of an agreement made between Thomas Wells and (ii) on the marriage of William Wells, the younger, son of Thomas Wells with Elizabeth, the sole daughter of (ii) Edward Hubert and William Wells by special direction of Thomas Wells, grant to (ii) - Annuity of £23 issuing out of - messuage in Nether Standon in Shillington, now in occupation of William Clerke - Pieces of arable land dispersedly lying in the common fields of Upper Standon and Shillington (80a) belonging to said messuage and now also in the occupation of William Clerke - All other freehold lands etc in Shillington, Over Standon, Upper and Nether Gravenhurst To hold said sum for life, payable on the 4 usual feast days and at the house of William Clerke in Nether Standon If unpaid for 12 days after due date then (ii) may distrain on the property Is declared that messuage is of yearly value of £35 Signatures of (i) Endorsed witnesses: Nicholas Ansell, R Skynner and Jo Hale Note: A 1651 deed to declare the uses of a fine (which included Shillington) which came from the same deposit as the above, was to Herts RO
